MESEC Spring Residency 2026
Upcoming
  • Campomoro, Corsica

  • Any period of time between June 6th to June 20th 2026

  • Unfortunately, limited funds force us to ensure that the Residency is net-zero this year. Hence the slightly higher-than-usual cost of 30€ per day to cover food and gas expenses + 5€ for transport per trip to/from Propriano, if requested.

  • We currently cannot promise any bursaries will be available, but we are working hard to find options, so please do apply even if the fees are outside your budget and we will do the best to find support.

  • max 20 participants at a time

What is the MESEC Residency?

Residency is an event that brings together MESEC alumni to work together and enjoy the lovely scenery of Corsica. The idea is that you apply to the Residency with a little project. This may be a concrete collaboration with other MESECeers, an idea that you would like to discuss or work on (and would like to find the collaborators at the Residency), a thought that you would like to ponder, a project you’d like to find inspiration for or develop (for example, a thesis topic), or just your individual project that would benefit from the inspiring Corsican atmosphere (for example, that dreaded grant application, or a chapter of your dissertation). All projects are welcome regardless of how serious your project is!

What is the schedule of the Residency?

The schedule for the Residency is not fixed. We will cook lunches and dinners together in cooking teams, share the meals together, and take a tiny bit of time each day for some community co-living activities (i.e., tidying the venue :)). Each day in the late afternoon we will have MESEC Lab meetings, where you can present whatever you would like to share or discuss in a short format (15-20 minutes). We also welcome ideas for other kinds of sessions—for example, tutorials, one-on-one coding sessions, a career panel, a hackathon, etc. Anything that you think might be fun to do!

Venue and transport

The venue in Campomoro is an informal private property with several houses and shared bedrooms. There is a pool, the beach is ten minutes away, and a natural park with hiking trails is accessible from the backyard. Campomoro is very remote - a 30 minutes drive to the closest grocery store, and not easily accessible from the airports (the closest airports are Ajaccio and Figari).

For that reason, we will organize pick-ups/drop-offs only from Propriano (ferry port and bus stop) and only on the following five days: June 6, 10, 13, 17, 20 and between 11am and 8pm. We highly recommend flying to Marseille and taking the overnight ferry from Marseille to Propriano. You can coordinate with other MESECeers and book out cabins in the ferry, which come with decent beds and bathrooms. We can also help with this, but crucially, try to indicate your travel plans as soon as possible to make this easier. Alternatively, there are limited buses from Ajaccio and Figari airports to Propriano if you decide to fly. You can find more information here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1tgWDvZGmPu9IMMeKzFxX94Q_PzOTYQx_LeeecM7f5IE/edit?usp=sharing

If you want to arrive/depart on different days/times or at different locations, you will need to find your own way to the venue. Taxis are very expensive (think €200) and buses don’t run often so if you are considering arriving or departing outside the organized dates and times, please get in touch with us first to help you organize your trip.

Who is the Residency for?

The Residency is open to anyone who has previously attended a MESEC event, including in-person speakers and tutors! We have slightly fewer spots available this year, so we have to limit the number of external participants we can accept. However, if you feel strongly about bringing a +1 or family members, please don’t hesitate to email us at residency@mesec.co to discuss the possibilities. Applying to the residency! The application is open from now and will be open until residency, depending on the number of spots. Spots will be allocated on a rolling basis, so do apply as early as possible. In case we receive more interest than we can accommodate, we will give preference to those who propose more concrete projects, or projects with other MESECeers that will benefit from the shared space the most. If you would like some help finding other MESECeers to join your project, don’t hesitate to get in touch, we would ideally like to support everyone as much as possible!
